Photographs

Maidan was probably one of the most photographed and photogenic events in recent history. The hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian citizens demonstrating in the center of Kyiv, the colorful barricades erected to keep the riot police out, the multitude of Ukrainian flags and other national symbols, the burning tires, the bitter fighting between endless rows of heavily armed riot police and demonstrators defending themselves with wooden shields, motorcycle helmets and anything else that could be used as protection – it resulted in an avalanche of impressive photos. Here we present just a few, to give you an impression of what perspired before our eyes, or to refresh your memory of the events during the winter of 2013-2014.
